Aloud stores everything on your device. There are no servers, no user accounts, and no analytics.
Your sentences, their translations, the generated audio, and your practice history are saved in a database on your iPhone. None of it is transmitted to the developer, because there is no server to transmit it to. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Aloud requires you to supply your own API keys for translation, speech synthesis, and optionally transcription. These are stored in the iOS Keychain, which is encrypted by the device and not readable by other apps. They are never sent anywhere except to the service they belong to.
When you translate sentences, generate audio, or transcribe a recording, the relevant text or audio is sent directly from your phone to the provider whose key you supplied. Those requests are governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this one:
Because you use your own account with each provider, your usage is subject to the terms of that account.
Aloud requests microphone access only to record sentences you choose to dictate. Recordings are sent to your chosen transcription provider and are not retained by the app afterwards. Microphone access is optional — you can type sentences instead.
None. Aloud contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
Aloud is not directed at children under 13.
